Pretty cool hike on a HOT day

We hated the pipeline area. What I couldn't figure out is why they didn't put a trail in the woods that parallels the pipeline? It was hot and exposed and for no good reason. The trail became something very special after the second road crossing, though. This hike is worth doing for that section alone. Saw only one other couple the whole day.

We were so happy to have found this amazing park. So beautiful, peaceful and uncrowded (not to mention, "dog-friendly.") WELL worth the park entry fee. The trails are impeccably maintained and color-coded trail system makes it easy to navigate and fun to explore different routes. We intend to come back for some overnight backpacking very soon!
Dog romp heaven

Took the Geo-hounds out for a hike today to meet some other Austin hounds and found 4 of the area geocaches. Great day hiking in this beautiful area. Plenty of water in the creek with a blessedly cool tree canopy. Really enjoyed this outing.
Fabulous day exploring

This was the most fun we had on a hike since moving to Austin from Santa Barabara,CA. Did all 3 area Geocaches. Fiona didn't want to leave the park, there's so much to explore here. Wonderful solitude, cool waters, and of course the amazing display of Texas wildflowers. We'll be coming back here often.
